We have started with the Dig for Victory theme, used during the second world war to encourage everyone to grow their own vegetables.
The Dig for Victory campaign was started by the British Ministry of Agriculture in order to increase morale and provide much-needed food.
Rationing had been introduced because the German Government were disrupting the import of food to England. U-boats and Battleships targeted the merchant navy vessels shipping food from around the world.
The Dig for Victory campaign was extremely successful and one of the most remembered from the second world war.
